MELVILLE, N.Y., Oct. 17, 2024 – The Acoustical Society of America is hosting a virtual meeting Nov. 18-22. Journalists are invited to virtually attend press conferences on Monday, Nov. 18 and attend technical sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

This scientific conference brings together interdisciplinary groups of acoustics professionals, spanning many fields, including physics, medicine, and music, to discuss the latest advancements. From dinosaurs to pipe organs, the virtual conference will cover a wide range of topics. Experts will present recent work on important research including Alzheimer’s disease detection, generating electricity from waste heat, a discussion about windfarms and wildlife, and much more. Acoustics Meeting in Ottawa #ASA186 MediaOTTAWA, Ontario, May 3, 2024 – The Acoustical Society of America and the Canadian Acoustical Association will host three press conferences Tuesday, May 14, in room 105 of the Shaw Centre. The in-person presentations will also be livestreamed and recorded. (Full schedule below.)

Press conference topics will focus on a wide range of newsworthy sessions from the upcoming meeting, which runs May 13-17 and aligns with Acoustics Week in Canada. This scientific conference brings together interdisciplinary groups of acoustics professionals, spanning many fields, including physics, medicine, music, psychology, wildlife biology, and engineering, to discuss the latest advancements. While in Ottawa, experts will present recent work on topics that include American hockey players adopting Canadian accents, scientists using ultrasound to help turtles with the bends, and AI-based headphones fine-tuning human hearing. CHICAGO, April 27, 2023 – The 184th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America will include three press conferences on Tuesday, May 9, in the Lakeville room of the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile Hotel. The in-person presentations will also be livestreamed and recorded.

Topics will focus on a wide range of newsworthy sessions from the upcoming meeting, which runs May 8-12. This includes 3D-printing head simulators, tracking immune cells with ultrasound, investigating the impact of skin color on breast cancer diagnosis, mimicking insects to create miniature microphones, and locating leaks in water networks.
